Calling all fans of Pops Fernandez and Joey Albert: these two Pinay pop icons will perform on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 4:45 p.m. at the Philfest Mississauga festival held at Celebration Square at 300 City Center Drive, Mississauga, Ont.
The two-day, free admission festival—touted as the biggest Pinoy festival west of Toronto—starts this Saturday, Sept. 14, and will feature Filipino food, music, arts and culture.
Maria Cielito, or “Pops” Fernandez, is a popular singer, actress, TV host and fashion designer.

Fernandez has been called a Concert Queen for her sold-out shows in arenas in the Philippines and abroad.
One of her most beloved songs is the heartbreaking “Don’t Say Goodbye”, written by her ex-husband Martin Nievera.
“Martin and I were still married. He showered and when he came out, which was a few minutes after, he had the lyrics for ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’,” Fernandez said in an ABS-CBN interview.
Joey Albert is Fernandez’s contemporary, gaining popularity in the 1980’s with her soulful songs, with one of her most well-known songs called “Tell Me”.
Other entertainers include kulintang-inspired band Pantayo, Odette Quesada, Jeremy Passion and Gabe Bondoc.

OG Pinay DJ Nina Saputil-Salvo ramps up the fun on Satuday evening with her energetic playlist sure to get everyone dancing to the beat.
Sunday afternoon’s lineup includes more dancing at the Amphitheatre of Celebration Square: zumba at 1 p.m., line dancing at 1:30 p.m., and “Hulafunatics” at 2 p.m.
There will be a mini-craft pop-up on both days, with free colouring stations for the kids and other free activities.
Food options include Seafood City, FV Foods, Islas BBQ, The Night Baker, and many others.
“This year is extra special as it marks 75 years of Philippine’s Canada Diplomatic Relations and 50th anniversary of Mississauga becoming a city,” the Philfest website stated.
Mabuhay Canada will be at the festival. See you there!
