What do you get when you pair a wholesome, down-to-earth, talented singer and beauty queen Ms. Universe 2018 Catriona Gray with an equally accomplished singer, actor and model Sam Milby together in a concert?
A match made in heaven, of course, as the engaged couple took to the stage on October 14, 2023 at Global Kingdom Ministries in Toronto, Ont.
Or, as concert-goer Millicent Angeles puts it, you’ll get a serious case of “sana all” (hopefully all) watching these two mega-celebrities perform together, with their charming personalities on full display. How fair is that?
Here are the top 8 things to know about the Only YOU-niverse concert, from Angeles’ point of view:

1. First Impressions
Both Catriona and Sam are very good-looking and down-to-earth.
Sam apologized to the crowd for playing a villain in a movie, and again when he revealed that he will be playing another mean character in an upcoming Netflix series called “Replacing Chef Chino” due in mid-November.
“Abangan po ninyo (wait for it): I play a Chef Gordon Ramsey-type. Hindi po ako nagmumura (I don’t swear) in real life but I did in this series…sorry na po!”

2. Sam is good at owning his cover songs
Sam started his set with a cover of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time”, but played his own rock version.
He did complain of having a sore throat afterwards but Catriona admitted that he is good at putting his own spin on the songs that he covers.
3. Catriona has a background in music, but Sam commands the stage
When it was Cat’s time to sing a few songs, she did not disappoint. Beauty, brains, and talent…she has it all.
The half-Filipino, half-Australian beauty queen actually has a graduate certificate in music theory from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachussetts.
The couple can sing very well, but Cat’s music background really shows. Sam may not be as great a singer as Catriona, but he commands the stage with his stage presence.
Catriona said that whenever she’s nervous about performing she can rely on Sam to calm her nerves.
Sam has performed in a great number of concerts—although he told concertgoers that he can’t remember exactly how many times he’s played in one.

4. Catriona is beautiful inside and out
Catriona is everything a beauty queen should be.
When it looked like a fan was getting crushed in the crowd, Catriona gently reminded the crowd not to rush towards the stage.
“She’s very kind and wholesome—reminds me of Snow White,” said Angeles.

5. The titas (aunties) in the crowd went crazy over Sam
When Sam serenaded the crowd with “And I love You So”, the audience was electrified, especially when he said that he LOVES to get up close and personal.
“Nabuhay ang seemingly subdued crowd, nagtakbuhan ang mga titas towards the right side of the stage”, said Angeles.
(The subdued crowd was invigorated. They started running towards the right side of the stage.)

6. This is their first and perhaps last concert as an engaged couple.
Sam revealed that this is their first and perhaps the only time they are performing as an engaged couple.
Their next concert most likely will be a “Mr. & Mrs.” collaboration, he said. (Swoon. Kilig to the max).
7. Catriona loves to sing songs about unrequited love
Cat revealed that she loves to sing songs that tug at the heart strings, especially songs about unrequited love.
“Ang sakiiiiit” (oh how it hurts), she said, after singing “Pagdating ng Panahon”.
However, it’s Catriona’s rendition of “Ikaw” by Yeng Constantino, dedicated to the love of her life and her future husband that impressed the most.
With the lyrics “ikaw ang pagibig na hinintay, binigay ng Maykapal, biyaya sa buhay ko”, she sang about her newfound love, her life’s treasure from God.

8. Catriona gets tongue-twisted
Catriona still gets nervous about pronouncing certain Tagalog words such as “ngumingiti” (to smile).
Sam challenged her with the word “nakakapagbagabag” (nerve-wracking) and Catriona said, “nah, I won’t even bother trying that…let’s move on!”
Angeles said “they’re celebrities and we don’t know them personally, but watching them together just makes you wish you can have a love like theirs.
“You just want them to succeed and make it as a married couple because they’re just so nice.”
